Armac Veterinary Clinic

I’m actually in complete shock and disgusted by the lack of compassion shown to my sister today. My sister is having an awful time with her cat, who has recently been neutered and has unfortunately might have already ripped out her stitches. Her cat has become so distressed and aggressive the past few weeks that my sister cannot even approach her without being attacked (which is known to this vets), never mind trying to get her into a carrier to bring her back to the vet. She lives LITERALLY across the road from the veterinary practice and went in desperately asking for help, explaining that she physically cannot get near her cat without being attacked. Their response? “We can’t help.” My sister is completely alone, with no family or friends nearby to help her. She stood in their reception in tears, absolutely hysterical with worry for her cat, practically begging for someone to help her. Yet nobody could find the compassion or decency to walk across the road to her apartment building to assist her. I completely understand that veterinary practices are busy and that there may be certain procedures or policies in place, but surely there comes a point where a little humanity and compassion should take priority? What exactly is someone supposed to do in this situation? Leave an animal with an open surgical wound because they physically cannot get near it without risking serious injury themselves? My sister wasn’t asking for the impossible. She was asking for HELP, for both herself and an animal that desperately needs medical attention. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think that someone can stand in front of you crying, frightened and completely helpless, and be turned away without any practical assistance or alternative solution. Where has the compassion gone? Surely animal welfare doesn’t end the moment an animal leaves the veterinary practice.

Our first appointment at Armac with our new kitten Ozzy. We were a bit nervous, but the staff were fantastic and the vet went above and beyond to answer all our queries and treated our kitten amazingly. I highly recommend Armac Vets.

My dachshund Penny is a very nervous and anxious dog and this makes her difficult for the vet to deal with as she can potentially bite through fear and can growl. She went yesterday for her vaccination booster and the vet was lovely with her, talking to her nicely, offering treats and listening to us whilst we explained her behaviour, even though she couldn’t carry out a full health check due to Pennys fear she spent time with Penny reassuring her and stroking her afterwards and gaining her trust. It is always a stressful experience for Penny but taking time to be patient and kind to her made all the difference.

Wonderful vets they have been looking after my 4 dogs for many years now.

The vets at Armac Vets are compassionate, sensitive, honest and very kind. During a very difficult time they showed genuine care and professionalism, and I’m very grateful for how the veterinary team handled things. Unfortunately my experience with one receptionist was not as positive. I rang to ask about my cat’s ashes and was unsure what Surname name my cat had been registered under, as my neighbour had kindly made the call and paid the vet bill for me when my cat needed urgent care. The receptionist seemed impatient, rushed me on the phone and told me my cat had not been returned from the crematorium and that I should stop ringing, as the person on file would be contacted. Shortly afterwards my neighbour called to say the vets had been in touch the day before and told her that my cat’s ashes were ready to collect and that they had managed to contact me, the cat’s owner — which they had not. I rang the practice again straight away and was then told by a different receptionist that my cat had actually been there for around five days already. During such a sensitive time this felt quite upsetting, and the first person I spoke to came across as unprofessional and dismissive. The vets themselves are excellent, but experiences like this at reception could unfortunately damage what is otherwise a very good veterinary practice.
